Maine high court upholds state’s wind farm permit law

Boston Globe -- PORTLAND, Maine — The state’s highest court yesterday upheld a law that aims to hasten the permit process for wind farms in the state.

The Maine Supreme Judicial Court unanimously rejected arguments from the Friends of Lincoln Lakes nonprofit group, which challenged the Department of Environmental Protection’s approval of a 40-turbine wind power project on Rollins Mountain in Penobscot County.

What I noticed in the article was, "The Maine Supreme Judicial Court unanimously rejected arguments..." The key word in this is "unanimously." When has anyone ever heard of a Supreme Court decision that did not include at least one dissenting opinion. The only time that occurs is when no one on the court can find ANY legal justification of any kind to dissent. These guys are not an agreeable bunch. They love to disagree.

Money talks.
Department of Environmental Protection’s approval of a 40-turbine wind power project, gets its way.
When the court says so, Friends of Lincoln Lakes nonprofit groups opinion is kaput!

I always thought that air was free. try to get free air in your tires these days.they always try to figure out a way to charge for something. the government would probably charge the wind farms for using the air that blows across the ground.

That's ok RENEGADEGAS! None of us natives want you spending any time in Maine, NH, or VT anyhow. You would only scare off or shoot up all the wildlife in our beautiful states. It's your loss.

fordmexico: Your wrong too. The Lincoln area has lots of fishing, boating, camping, golf, and many Maine Guide camps. It does attract many tourists.

So funny twobroke. YUK, YUK.

Lincoln Lakes is a beautiful area in northern Maine, but wind turbines will certainly be no more harmful to the scenic views and tourism than the smelly paper mill in Lincoln. A wise decision by the court.

I live in Maine a good part of the year. This wind turbine stuff has been going around and around for a while. We need to shake the oil thing and wind turbines are an excellent source of energy. Get over it, we need them across the whole country !

Every state needs wind farms for generating part of their electrical demand. Over the next century, we will need more and more electricity.

More NIMBA, Maine is a beautiful state, but you are limited in employment options. This expands those options, and reduces your dependence on other for power.

The winner will be whoever makes the windmills and/or solar panels since there will be very little difference to homeowner.
